Education’s Mission
Response by Our Education Committee.
St. Christopher’s Mission in Education: [in your opinion what is our function, what is Jesus & the Church calling us to as a community]
Educate our children in moral & spiritual values. TV, radio, & newspapers are eroding these values. Adults need the same type of education. RCIA.
Pass on our beliefs and traditions to “our” children NOT only in words but by our actions.
PRIORITIZATION OF Education’s SHORT TERM GOALS & OBJECTIVES [1994-95]:
Make learning fun. All the children attending all the classes, not just some.
Parents to take part in this.
All parents bring children to Mass not send them.
Bring to light the “New Catechism” through the homilies at Masses.
Get more involved in our liturgies.
Act as a support group for one another through interaction.
PRIORITIZATION OF Education’s LONG TERM GOALS & OBJECTIVES:
Retreats & Seminars at our own parish.
Build a larger church due to participation. Well attended classes.
Large & successful Youth Group.
STRATEGIES NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THOSE GOALS:
Home phone chain - one call another & so forth. Have friends bring friends for discussion. Parents discussion of how to help teachers.
Fun activities in all aspects of education.
Parents have to do one presentation (15 minutes) in each classroom.
Simple version of the New Catechism.
