Worship’s Mission

St. Christopher’s Mission in worship:

·          Instill the feeling of involvement in our liturgies and the beauty of the words being sung.

·          The music has improved. I think everyone is trying better, but there is still room for more improvement.

·          Spreading the Good News of the Gospel.

·          Setting a good Christian example by our ordinary living.

·          To share in the Body of Christ all things as one.

·          To minister to the poor in spirit, to the young, to those who are in need of anything spiritually or physically.

·          More involvement of different members of our church so the burden is not on a few.

·          Evangelization - Increase parish community families/members.

·   Proper understanding of Church doctrine/policy. Increase the participation in worship/education.

·   Increase participation in the worship ministries.

PRIORITIZATION OF Worship’s SHORT TERM GOALS & OBJECTIVES [1994-95]:

·   More cantors; practice music; organizing.

·   To work with other books for our songs - also to be able to practice not only with the organist but also with the congregation. At this time this is nearly impossible.

·   More Ministers to shut-ins; more Ministers to 11 AM Mass.

·   Make sure candles are out. More parishioners to take responsibility to place flowers on altar in proper containers. See that windows & doors are shut & locked after use.

·   More parishioners to maintain linens for altar & more responsibility for altar boys & girls to take care of their own vestments, such as hanging them up, cleaning and washing them.

·   To make each and every Mass and worship service as meaningful to all.

·   To bring all members of our community to a better knowledge of Jesus and our place in life on this earth.

·   More Workshops/Retreats.

·   More participation of Rosary before Mass.

·   More participation at retreats. (As a young mother) I would like to have a MOMS group. (During afternoon/morning or evening hours.)

·   Unity in the Worship community.

·   Bible school summer program.

·   To get our Lectors to be more seriously committed to their ministry. To come up with petitions for Prayer. More participation in planned Masses such as (Lectors Installation).

·   Increase participation in worship ministries. Understanding church doctrine.

·   To aid all parishioners earn their way to heaven.

PRIORITIZATION OF Worship’s LONG TERM GOALS & OBJECTIVES:

·   Obtain choir music - up to date music.

·   Robes to dignify the music.

·   More organists & participants in music.

·   Have more rehearsals.

·   Acquire more cantors.

·   Help put equipment such as chairs & tables away in proper place after use.

·   More parishioners offer to take care of linens. Increase of parishioners to do Rosary on weekends.

·   Long term goal that all peoples of this area would give 100% of their time and talents to serve God and the community and gain the strength needed through our Liturgies.

·   Having the whole parish become unified in fund-raisers, etc.

·   More involvement in the activities.

·   Encourage all registered parishioners attend Mass.

·   More attendance to weekday obligation Masses.

·   To have enough ministers that we only read once or twice a month.

·   To involve teens in this ministry.

·   Get more people to participate actively by ministering in worship.

STRATEGIES NEEDED TO ACHIEVE THOSE GOALS:

·          Stick-to-it-tiveness! and help from young people. Teachers. More involvement of people.

·          Parents make parents & children take home altar clothes & return the next week or during week.

·          evangelize, pray

·          Pray for the whole St. Christopher community. Need people to help organize the said programs.

·          Retreats.

·          Increase participation in ministries - one on one contact with parish members - better campaign. Understanding church doctrine - talk to members & invite to Monday Catechism Classes.

·          Let the applicants to ministries know how rewarding it is and it will not be burdensome.
